L’interface, 2021

Moved to Auckland in 2007, I had never felt that the distance between New Zealand and France had affected me psychologically until the loss of my father in 2015. Since then, I have felt caught between the desire to stay in New Zealand and the desire to go back to France to be closer to my mother. Today, my feeling of displacement is being reinforced by the international travel restrictions due to the ongoing global pandemic of coronavirus disease, leaving all of us with intensified uncertainty.

L’interface is a series of photographs exploring my conflicted longings, and constructing an intersection of two seascapes: the West coast of Auckland and the coastline of Guidel, my home village in Brittany, France.
